Astrolabe Analytics was awarded its fifth Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program award, which provides ~$1,000,000 in seed funding for forecasting best-in-class battery health and maintenance analytics.
SEATTLE, WA, DECEMBER 14, 2023 — Astrolabe Analytics, Inc. has been awarded a National Science Foundation (NSF) SBIR/Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) grant for ~$1,000,000 to conduct research and development (R&D) work on health monitoring and predictive maintenance for battery-powered assets.
Astrolabe is a Seattle-based battery technology and analytics company focused on delivering data-driven software and services to ensure safety, maximize uptime, and minimize the total cost of ownership for electric mobility, aerospace, and defense applications.
“We’re excited to have the support from NSF and our partners to help grow our team and accelerate product development. We will track down drivers of degradation and aging in off-grid battery systems and develop hybrid models that combine physics and data-driven methods to get the best tradeoff between speed and accuracy in the off-grid environment. The end product will help our clients and their customers de-risk operations, extend service life, and increase profitability in service of our broader goal to help decarbonize the industries we operate in.” Says Founder + CEO, Robert Masse, PhD.
Astrolabe has previously received four awards from the NSF and US Air Force for developing advanced analytics software and solutions that span from basic materials R&D to electric aviation battery systems. With this grant, Astrolabe will further develop its mission to take battery performance and safety to new heights.
About the National Science Foundation’s Small Business Programs:
America’s Seed Fund powered by NSF awards $200 million annually to startups and small businesses, transforming scientific discovery into products and services with commercial and societal impact. Startups working across almost all areas of science and technology can receive up to $2 million to support (R&D), helping de-risk technology for commercial success. America’s Seed Fund is congressionally mandated through the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program. The NSF is an independent federal agency with a budget of about $8.5 billion that supports fundamental research and education across all fields of science and engineering.
